Free up Adobe Acrobat storage
Acrobat keeps PDFs you opened, starred, or saved to this device, plus a preview cache. Files in Adobe Document Cloud stay in your Adobe account. Files under On this device / Downloads are user files. Clearing cache does not delete Document Cloud. Deleting a local PDF can if it was never uploaded.
See how much space Acrobat is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Adobe Acrobat (some versions say Acrobat Reader).
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps.
- Tap Adobe Acrobat.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Recent files vs cloud files
- Open Acrobat and go to Files / Recents.
- Check whether a PDF is on this device or in Document Cloud / another location.
- Remove recents you do not need locally. Confirm cloud copies first.
Starred / Favorite PDFs may stay downloaded. Unpin them if you only needed a local copy for a trip.
Clear cache
- Open Acrobat > profile or settings.
- Tap Clear cache / storage if listed, or use Android app storage (below).
Cache is previews. The PDF you saved to Files is a user file. Delete it in Files if you already have the Document Cloud original.
Clear Acrobat cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Adobe Acrobat.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out. Local PDFs that are not in Document Cloud can be lost.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Adobe Acrobat still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- PDFs already in Adobe Document Cloud stay. Copy any file that lives only on this phone (Recents, Downloads, On My iPhone) before you delete the app.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Adobe Acrobat again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Adobe Acrobat is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
