Free up Adobe Scan storage

Adobe Scan captures pages and can upload them to Adobe Document Cloud. Cloud scans stay in your Adobe account. Scans that never uploaded exist only on this phone. Cache is processing leftovers. The scan list is your documents.

See how much space Adobe Scan is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Adobe Scan.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap Adobe Scan.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Confirm Document Cloud before you delete

  1. Open Adobe Scan while online and wait for uploads to finish.
  2. Open a scan in Acrobat / Document Cloud if you need to confirm the copy.
  3. Export a PDF to Files for anything that is still local only.

Recently Deleted

Deleted scans may sit in a Recently Deleted / Trash list. Emptying it is permanent for those files.

Clear Adobe Scan cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Adobe Scan.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out. Unuploaded scans can be lost.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Adobe Scan still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Wait until scans finish uploading to Document Cloud. Export any local-only PDF. Unuploaded captures live only on this phone.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Adobe Scan again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Adobe Scan is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
