Free up Alight Motion storage

Alight Motion stores projects and elements on this phone only. Signing in does not upload them. Export cache and imported clips sit next to the project files. There is no cloud library and no WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen.

See how much space Alight Motion is using

iPhone

Open the iPhone Settings app.
Tap General > iPhone Storage.
Tap Alight Motion.

Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
Tap Alight Motion.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

On iPhone, Alight Motion Help says media shared with Photos can make both apps look large for the same clip. Delete the clip from the project and from Photos if you want the space back.

Back up keepers as a Project Package

Alight Motion Help: projects are not in your account. Use Project Package before you delete a project, clear data, or reinstall.

Open the project and tap the Export icon (top right).
Select Project Package.
Tap Export and save the link and QR code somewhere safe.

To restore later, open the Alight link or scan the QR code, then tap Import. The project lands under Templates. Alight cannot recover a lost link.

Delete finished projects and exports

On the project list, long-press a project you already exported to Photos.
Delete it. Also remove unused elements you imported.

Finished videos in Photos or Gallery are a second copy. Delete extras there, including Recently Deleted / Trash. Projects and export leftovers stay local until you remove them.

Export from the project list if a render is stuck

Alight Motion Help: if export fails, long-press the project on the list and tap Export (bottom left). Lower resolution, frame rate, or quality if the phone is full.

Clear Alight Motion cache on Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps > Alight Motion.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data. Alight Motion Help says clearing data or uninstalling permanently deletes projects and elements.

iPhone does not offer a separate Alight Motion cache button. Delete finished projects, then offload the app in iPhone Storage only after Project Package backups.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Alight Motion still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

Export Project Packages and save the links first. Alight Motion Help says delete or reinstall permanently removes every local project and element.
Delete the app from your phone.
Restart your phone.
Install Alight Motion again from the App Store or Google Play.
Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
