Free up AllTrails storage

AllTrails gets large from offline maps you download for a trail or region, plus photos from recordings. Saved lists and completed hikes stay in your AllTrails account. Clearing cache does not delete those cloud records. Offline maps on this phone will need a new download later.

See how much space AllTrails is using

iPhone

Open the iPhone Settings app.
Tap General > iPhone Storage.
Tap AllTrails.

Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps.
Tap AllTrails.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Delete offline maps

Open AllTrails and go to saved maps / offline maps (often under a trail, Navigator, or Profile).
Open a downloaded map or region.
Remove the download.

High-detail offline maps for a whole park can be hundreds of megabytes each. Delete trips you already finished.

Delete recording photos on this phone

Open Photos or Gallery and delete trail photos you saved from AllTrails.
Empty Recently Deleted / Trash.

Activity photos may still exist in the AllTrails activity online after you delete the Camera Roll copy.

Clear AllTrails cache on Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps > AllTrails.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out and reset AllTrails, including offline maps on this phone.

iPhone does not offer a separate AllTrails cache button. Remove offline maps first, then offload or reinstall if the total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and AllTrails still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

Saved trails and completed activities stay in your AllTrails account. Offline maps on this phone will need to be downloaded again. Keep any photos that exist only in Camera Roll.
Delete the app from your phone.
Restart your phone.
Install AllTrails again from the App Store or Google Play.
Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
