Free up Amazon Music storage
Amazon Music stores downloaded albums, playlists, and podcasts, plus an HD playback cache so tracks start quickly. Your library stays on the Amazon account. Removing a download only deletes the copy on this phone.
See how much space Amazon Music is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Amazon Music.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps.
- Tap Amazon Music.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Amazon Music does not have a WhatsApp-style storage screen. Open Library and filter to Downloaded.
Remove downloaded music
- Open Amazon Music and tap Library.
- Open Downloaded (or filter Library to downloaded albums and playlists).
- Open a collection and turn off the download icon, or tap Remove download.
The album or playlist stays in Library. Only the offline files leave this phone.
Clear storage in Amazon Music settings
- Open Amazon Music and tap your profile or the menu.
- Tap Settings.
- Open Storage, Data Saver, or playback quality.
- Clear cache if that button is shown, and lower HD / Ultra HD download quality.
HD and Ultra HD downloads are much larger than standard. Use Offline mode only when you want to play what is already on the phone. It does not delete files.
Clear Amazon Music cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Amazon Music.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Amazon Music on this phone. That signs you out and removes local downloads. The library stays on your Amazon account.
iPhone does not offer a separate Amazon Music cache button. Remove items under Library > Downloaded, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Amazon Music still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Downloads will need to be re-downloaded after you sign in. Your Amazon account keeps the library, playlists, and podcasts.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Amazon Music again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Amazon Music is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
