Free up app storage

Free up AMC+ storage

AMC+ uses the most space for eligible movies and episodes saved for offline viewing. It also keeps a smaller playback cache so the next title starts quickly. Your profile, watchlist, and history stay on your AMC+ account. Removing a download only deletes the file on this phone.

See how much space AMC+ is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap AMC+.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap AMC+.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

AMC+ does not have a WhatsApp-style storage screen. Open the app Downloads section to see the titles that are actually on the phone.

Delete titles from Downloads

  1. Open the AMC+ app (direct AMC+ sign-in, not a partner channel app).
  2. Open the Downloads section.
  3. Tap a title, then remove or delete the download.

Downloads are for eligible titles on a qualifying Premium plan. The Monthly With Ads plan does not include downloads. If you subscribe through Apple TV Channels, Prime Video, or another provider, manage offline files in that provider app instead. The title stays on your account and can be downloaded again later if it is still eligible.

Download over Wi-Fi

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi before you queue a new title.
  2. Open an eligible title and look for the download icon on the title page.
  3. Keep the app open on a stable connection until the download finishes.

AMC+ asks for a strong connection (their support cites about 20 Mbps). New downloads over Wi-Fi avoid filling cellular data. Titles already on the phone stay until you remove them.

Clear AMC+ cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > AMC+.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset AMC+ on this phone. That signs you out and removes local downloads. Your watchlist and history stay on your account.

iPhone does not offer a separate AMC+ cache button. Delete items in Downloads, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and AMC+ still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Downloads will need to be re-downloaded after you sign in. Your AMC+ account keeps the watchlist, profiles, and history.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install AMC+ again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After AMC+ is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
