Free up Wallet storage
Apple Wallet is usually small. It stores passes, cards, IDs, and transit. The app is not a hidden photo library. Removing old boarding passes is honest. Do not expect several gigabytes back.
See how much space Wallet is using
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Wallet.
If iPhone Storage shows a huge Wallet number, look at Documents and Data once. It is still rarely in game territory. Wallet is an iPhone app. There is no Android cache button that applies here.
Remove old passes
- Open Wallet.
- Open a boarding pass or ticket you no longer need.
- Tap the dots or Pass details, then Remove Pass.
Expired tickets are the usual clutter. Payment cards stay until you remove them in Wallet settings.
Why this will not free much
Wallet does not keep product videos or chat media. Cache is tiny. Offloading Wallet is possible in iPhone Storage, but you will set up cards again. Only do that if you already removed old passes and the number is still oddly high.
Offload Wallet only as a last step
- Open iPhone Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Wallet.
- Tap Offload App only if you already removed old passes and the number is still oddly high.
iPhone does not offer a Wallet cache button. Offload removes the app binary and keeps some data. You may need to add cards again. This rarely frees much space.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Wallet still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Note your cards and passes first. Many come back with your Apple Account, but some cards need to be added again. Wallet is small, so a reinstall rarely frees much space.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Wallet again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Wallet is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
