Free up app storage

Free up Asana storage

Asana tasks and projects live in your Asana workspace. This phone stores project cache, task files you opened, and offline leftovers. Clearing cache does not delete projects. Removing a file from a task does.

See how much space Asana is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Asana.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap Asana.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Task files

  1. Open a task.
  2. Open the attachments / files section.
  3. Remove a file from the task only if you mean to delete it from the project.

Task files are workspace data. Copies saved to Files or Downloads are user files on the phone. Clearing Asana cache does not remove those copies.

Project cache

Recently opened projects keep images and descriptions on the device. That is cache. The project stays in Asana.

Clear Asana cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Asana.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out. Unsynced comments or uploads on this phone can be lost.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Asana still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Projects stay in your Asana workspace. Wait until offline edits and file uploads finish. Downloads saved only to this phone are local.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Asana again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Asana is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
