Free up app storage

Free up BOTIM storage

BOTIM keeps call media, chat photos, videos, voice notes, and files on this phone. Video calls and group chats are usually the biggest reason it grows.

See how much space BOTIM is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap BOTIM.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap BOTIM.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

BOTIM does not have a WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen. Use the system total, then delete chats and media inside the app.

Delete chats and their files

  1. On the chat list, tap and hold a conversation (iPhone: swipe left).
  2. Tap Delete.
  3. Confirm.

Start with group chats that shared a lot of video. This removes the local copy. Other people keep theirs.

Delete media from one chat

  1. Open the chat.
  2. Tap the name at the top.
  3. Open photos, videos, or files if BOTIM shows a media section.
  4. Tap and hold a large item, then tap Delete.

If there is no media gallery, tap and hold the file in the thread instead.

Turn off automatic media download

  1. Open BOTIM and tap Settings (profile or More).
  2. Look for Chats, Storage, Media, or Data usage.
  3. Turn off automatic photo and video download, or limit it to Wi-Fi.

After this, media downloads when you tap it. That is the strongest way to stop call clips and group files from filling the phone again.

Remove copies in Photos or Downloads

  1. Open Photos / Gallery and Files / Downloads.
  2. Delete BOTIM videos and photos you saved there.
  3. Empty Recently Deleted / Trash.

Clear BOTIM cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > BOTIM.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset BOTIM. That signs you out and wipes local chat files.

iPhone does not offer a separate BOTIM cache button. Offload or delete the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high after you delete media.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and BOTIM still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. BOTIM is tied to your phone number. Save photos, files, and any call clips you care about first. Some chat history may return after you sign in, but local media can be gone.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install BOTIM again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After BOTIM is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
