Free up Brave storage

Brave stores cached images and files, site data, Downloads, and Playlist media. Cached files are safe to clear. Playlist downloads are real files. Delete those separately if you saved videos for offline play.

See how much space Brave is using

iPhone

1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
3. Tap Brave.

Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
2. Tap Brave.
3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Clear browsing data

1. Open Brave and tap the menu.
2. Tap Settings > Privacy (or Brave Shields & privacy) > Clear browsing data.
3. Choose a time range.
4. Check Cached images and files.
5. Leave passwords unchecked unless you mean to remove them.
6. Tap Clear data.

Clearing cookies and site data signs you out of websites, including sites you Firewalled or allowed in Shields.

Delete Playlist files and downloads

1. Open Playlist in Brave and remove offline items you do not need.
2. Open menu > Downloads and delete files.
3. Clean leftovers in the Files or Downloads app, including Recently Deleted / Trash.

Playlist is often larger than normal web cache if you save long videos.

Site data

1. Open Brave Settings > Privacy > Site settings.
2. Open a site and delete its data, or clear all site data with browsing data.

Clear Brave cache on Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Brave.
2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Brave and sign out of sites on this phone.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Brave still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

1. Bookmarks sync if you use a Brave / sync chain. Keep Downloads and Playlist files you still need. Reinstalling signs you out of sites on this phone.
2. Delete the app from your phone.
3. Restart your phone.
4. Install Brave again from the App Store or Google Play.
5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
