Free up app storage

Free up BritBox storage

BritBox stores shows and films you save under Downloads so they play offline. Watchlists and history stay on your BritBox account. Removing a download only deletes the file on this phone. BritBox also drops a download after 30 days, or 48 hours after you start watching.

See how much space BritBox is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap BritBox.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap BritBox.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

BritBox does not have a WhatsApp-style storage screen. Open Downloads in the app to see files on this phone.

Delete titles from Downloads

  1. Open the BritBox app (direct Premier / eligible regional sign-in).
  2. Open Downloads.
  3. Tap a show or film and remove the download.

Official limits: up to 25 episodes or films per account, a 20 GB in-app download cap, and downloads on up to five devices. If you subscribe through Amazon, Apple TV Channels, or Roku, manage offline files in that partner app instead. The title stays on your account and can be downloaded again later if it is still eligible.

Download over Wi-Fi

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi, then open a show or film that has a download button.
  2. Tap download and wait until the item finishes.
  3. Confirm it appears under Downloads before you go offline.

Not every title is downloadable. New downloads over Wi-Fi keep cellular data unused. Expired items can still sit on the phone until you remove them.

Clear BritBox cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > BritBox.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset BritBox on this phone. That signs you out and removes local downloads. Your watchlist stays on your account.

iPhone does not offer a separate BritBox cache button. Delete items under Downloads, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and BritBox still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Downloads will need to be re-downloaded after you sign in. Your BritBox account keeps the watchlist and history.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install BritBox again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After BritBox is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
