Free up Bumble storage

Bumble caches Discover photos and media from chats. Matches and the account stay on Bumble. Photo cache and chat photos or videos are the local pile.

See how much space Bumble is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Bumble.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap Bumble.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

A long Chats tab with lots of pictures is the usual reason Bumble looks large.

Photo cache

Cards you already passed still leave photos on the phone. Bumble Support tells Android users to open Settings > Apps > Bumble > Storage > Clear Cache. Matches stay. Pictures load again when you open a profile.

Chat media

  1. Open a chat that has photos, videos, or voice notes.
  2. Save anything you want to Photos before you reset the app.
  3. Unmatch only if you also want the conversation gone from Bumble, not just from cache.

Bumble Support says you cannot delete a single sent message. Unmatching removes the chat from your view. The other person still has their copy. Clearing cache is not the same as unmatching.

Clear Bumble cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Bumble.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Bumble on this phone. Bumble Support says Clear Data will not delete your account. It does sign you out. Local chat media can need to reload.

iPhone does not offer a separate Bumble cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Bumble still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Matches stay on your Bumble account. Save chat photos you care about first. Photo cache downloads again as you swipe.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Bumble again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Bumble is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
