Free up CamScanner storage

CamScanner scans, folders, and OCR results are your documents. Cloud sync (if you use it) is a second copy. Cache is thumbnails and temp processing files. Do not treat the Docs list as cache. Deleting a scan can permanently remove the only copy if it was never uploaded.

See how much space CamScanner is using

iPhone

Open the iPhone Settings app.
Tap General > iPhone Storage.
Tap CamScanner.

Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps.
Tap CamScanner.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Export or confirm cloud before you delete

Open CamScanner settings and check sync / cloud if you use it.
Export important folders as PDF to Files, Drive, or another backup.

Delete scans you do not need

Open Docs / folders.
Select old scans.
Move to Trash only after you have an export or cloud copy.

Emptying Trash is permanent. OCR cache can be cleared if the app offers it; the PDF scan is still the document.

Clear CamScanner cache on Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps > CamScanner.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset the app. Local scans that are not in the cloud can be lost.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and CamScanner still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

Export PDFs of every folder you care about, or confirm they are already in CamScanner cloud. Scans are the data. Reinstalling without a backup can permanently delete them.
Delete the app from your phone.
Restart your phone.
Install CamScanner again from the App Store or Google Play.
Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
