Free up Canva storage
Canva designs live in your Canva account. What fills the phone is offline copies, cache, and files you exported to Photos or Files. Canva Help calls this Data and storage / Offline, not a WhatsApp-style Free up Storage list.
See how much space Canva is using
- Open Canva and tap your profile picture.
- Open Settings.
- Look for Storage, Data and storage, or Offline.
On the home screen, Available offline lists designs saved to this device. Canva recommends keeping a few gigabytes free for offline editing.
iPhone
- Open iPhone Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Canva.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Canva > Storage or Storage and cache.
Remove offline designs
- Open Available offline (home, Recents, or Projects).
- Open the menu on a design (...).
- Tap Remove offline availability (wording can vary slightly).
The design stays in your Canva account online. Only the local copy leaves this phone. Sync first if you edited while offline.
Remove all offline data
- Open Settings from your profile menu.
- Open Data and storage > Offline (or Storage if that is the label on mobile).
- Choose Remove offline designs to drop local copies, or Delete all offline data to also remove extra files Canva keeps for offline features.
Stay online until you see changes synced. Signing out while you still have unsynced offline edits can drop those local changes.
Exports in Photos or Files
Downloaded PNGs, PDFs, and videos sit in Photos, Files, or Downloads, not in Canva cache. Delete extras there, including Recently Deleted / Trash.
Clear Canva cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Canva.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Canva. Sync offline edits first.
iPhone does not offer a separate Canva cache button. Remove offline designs inside Canva, then offload the app if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Canva still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Designs stay in your Canva account. Sync offline edits before you remove offline data or reinstall.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Canva again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Canva is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
