Free up Careem storage
Careem caches map tiles, captain photos, and food or grocery images. Rides, orders, and Careem Pay stay on your Careem account. Maps and chat files are the local leftover.
See how much space Careem is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Careem.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
- Tap Careem.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Rides plus food in one app means two photo caches. The map in a new city grows fastest.
Maps and store photo cache
Careem does not give a WhatsApp-style storage screen. Android Clear cache drops map tiles and menu photos. Past trips and food orders stay in your Careem history.
Chat files
Captain or courier chat can include photos. Save anything you need for a dispute, then clear cache. Receipts stay on the account.
Clear Careem cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Careem.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Careem on this phone. That signs you out. History stays on the account.
iPhone does not offer a separate Careem cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Careem still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Rides, orders, and Careem Pay stay on your Careem account. Sign in again after reinstall.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Careem again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Careem is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
