Free up Character.AI storage

Character chats live in your Character.AI account. Local space is cache, character images, and voice-call leftovers. Clearing cache does not delete those chats.

iPhone

1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
3. Tap Character.AI or c.ai.

Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
2. Tap Character.AI or c.ai.
3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Voice calls and saved images

Voice sessions can leave audio in cache. Character avatars and group photos are cached so rooms open fast. They reload from the account after a cache clear.

1. Delete any screenshots or saved character images in Photos or Gallery.
2. Empty Recently Deleted / Trash.

Clear Character.AI cache on Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Character.AI.
2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out and reset the app. Chats stay in the account.

iPhone does not offer a separate Character.AI cache button. Offload or reinstall if the size stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Character.AI still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

1. Chats stay in your Character.AI account. You will sign in again after reinstall. Reinstalling does not delete cloud chats.
2. Delete the app from your phone.
3. Restart your phone.
4. Install Character.AI again from the App Store or Google Play.
5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
