Free up Citymapper storage
Citymapper downloads city data so Go directions work without waiting. Those city packs, plus Go cache, are what use space. Saved places stay with the account if you are signed in.
See how much space Citymapper is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Citymapper.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps.
- Tap Citymapper.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Remove offline cities
- Open Citymapper.
- Open the city switcher / Settings.
- Find downloaded or offline cities.
- Remove cities you are not in.
Keep only the city you ride in now. Citymapper can fetch another city when you travel.
Clear Citymapper cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Citymapper.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Citymapper and sign in again. Offline city packs will download again.
iPhone does not offer a separate Citymapper cache button. Remove extra cities, then offload or reinstall if the total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Citymapper still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Saved places stay with your Citymapper account if you are signed in. Offline city data on this phone will download again after reinstall.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Citymapper again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Citymapper is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
