Free up app storage

Free up Coinbase storage

Coinbase caches charts, help articles, and statement previews. Balances and activity stay on your Coinbase account. Keep the statements you need. This page is cache only.

See how much space Coinbase is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Coinbase.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap Coinbase.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

If Coinbase looks large, check Files for PDFs you downloaded before you blame the app cache.

Statements stay on the account

Coinbase Help: menu > Account & settings > Statements. Download HTML, PDF, or CSV from there when you need a copy. Do not delete those files if you still need them for taxes or records. The account can generate them again.

Cache only

Coinbase Help for device troubleshooting: iPhone Settings > Coinbase > Clear cache on next launch if that switch is there. Android Help for Card screens also lists Settings > Apps > Coinbase > Storage > Clear cache.

That drops previews and charts. It does not cancel trades or remove account documents. PDF statements in Downloads are separate. Delete those in Files only if you still have another copy you need.

Clear Coinbase cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Coinbase.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Coinbase on this phone. That signs you out. Money stays on the Coinbase account. You may need to confirm the device again.

iPhone does not offer a separate system cache button. Use Clear cache on next launch in the Coinbase settings row if you see it, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Coinbase still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Balances and history stay on Coinbase. Coinbase Help also says back up any 12-word recovery phrase from a self-custody wallet before you uninstall. You will sign in and may confirm this device again.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Coinbase again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Coinbase is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
