Free up app storage

Free up Costco storage

Costco caches warehouse photos, Same-Day grocery art, and membership card graphics. Orders and your membership stay on Costco.com. Costco Help documents Reset App Data, not a cache-only cleaner.

See how much space Costco is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Costco.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap Costco.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Warehouse photos and Same-Day item images are the local leftover. The membership number stays on the account.

Warehouse and Same-Day photos

Listing images sit in cache so the warehouse and Instacart-powered Same-Day aisles scroll. Android Clear cache drops those photos. Orders stay in Account.

Reset App Data is not cache

Costco Help: Menu > Other > Reset App Data, or Other > App Settings > Reset App Data. Same-Day help also lists Account > Settings > Reset App Data.

That refresh is closer to a reset than a cache clear. You sign in again. Membership and orders stay on Costco.com. Prefer Android Clear cache first if you only want photos gone.

Cookie settings

Costco Help: Menu > Other > App Settings > Cookie Settings. That is privacy, not a storage tool.

Clear Costco cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Costco.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Costco on this phone. That signs you out. Membership stays on the account.

iPhone does not offer a separate Costco cache button. Use Reset App Data only if you accept a sign-in, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Costco still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Membership and orders stay on your Costco account. You only need to sign in again after reinstall.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Costco again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Costco is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
