Free up Dailymotion storage
Dailymotion caches videos as you watch. Follows and watch history stay on your account if you are signed in. The app does not document a WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen.
See how much space Dailymotion is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Dailymotion.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
- Tap Dailymotion.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Downloads and saved videos
- Open your profile or Library in Dailymotion.
- Look for Downloads or Offline. If that section exists on your version, delete videos you do not need.
If you do not see Downloads, the app is using cache only. Do not invent a missing offline manager. Files you saved to Photos or Files are outside Dailymotion. Delete those copies there.
Lower playback quality
- While a video is playing, open quality settings if shown.
- Pick a lower resolution so less video is cached.
Clear Dailymotion cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Dailymotion.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Dailymotion. That signs you out.
iPhone does not offer a separate Dailymotion cache button. Offload or delete the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Dailymotion still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Watch history and follows stay on Dailymotion if you are signed in.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Dailymotion again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Dailymotion is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
