Free up DiDi storage

DiDi caches map tiles, driver photos, and receipts you opened. Trip history stays on your DiDi account. Maps cache is the part that grows in a new city.

See how much space DiDi is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap DiDi.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap DiDi.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Receipts and payment methods are on the account. Local leftovers are maps and images.

Maps and receipt cache

DiDi does not give a WhatsApp-style storage screen. Android Clear cache drops map tiles and driver photos. Past trips stay in the account ride list.

Chat files

Driver chat can include photos. Save anything you need for a dispute, then clear cache. Trip receipts stay on the account.

Clear DiDi cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > DiDi.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset DiDi on this phone. That signs you out. Trip history stays on the DiDi account.

iPhone does not offer a separate DiDi cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and DiDi still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Trip history and payment methods stay on your DiDi account. Sign in again after reinstall.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install DiDi again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After DiDi is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
