Free up app storage

Free up Disney+ storage

Disney+ stores movies and series episodes you save for offline viewing, plus a watch cache so playback resumes quickly. Watchlist and profiles stay on your account. Removing a download only deletes the file on this phone.

See how much space Disney+ is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Disney+.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap Disney+.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Disney+ does not have a WhatsApp-style storage screen. Open the Downloads tab to see the titles on this phone.

Delete downloads

  1. Open Disney+ and tap Downloads.
  2. Tap Edit if you see it, or tap a title.
  3. Remove the movie or the episodes you do not need offline.

Full seasons and movies are the largest items. The title stays in your Watchlist and can be downloaded again later.

Turn off automatic downloads

  1. Open your profile and tap App Settings (or the gear).
  2. Open Downloads.
  3. Turn off automatic or series downloads if that option is on.
  4. Set download quality lower, and allow downloads on Wi-Fi only if that toggle is shown.

Automatic series downloads can put the next episode on the phone after you watch. That fills storage again after a cleanup.

Clear Disney+ cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Disney+.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Disney+ on this phone. That signs you out and removes local downloads. Profiles and Watchlist stay on your account.

iPhone does not offer a separate Disney+ cache button. Delete items under Downloads, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Disney+ still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Downloads will need to be re-downloaded after you sign in. Your account keeps profiles, Watchlist, and watch history.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Disney+ again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Disney+ is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
