Free up Douyin storage

Douyin (抖音) caches videos you watch and stores effects, filters, stickers, drafts, and some offline web files on this phone. Posted videos stay on your account.

See how much space Douyin is using

Open Douyin and tap Me (我).
Tap the menu (three lines) > Settings (设置).
Open Clear cache (清理缓存) or Free up space / Clear occupied space (清理占用空间) if listed.

You should see sizes for cache (temporary files), web files, and resource files (effects and stickers). That is local storage, not your Douyin account.

iPhone

Open iPhone Settings > General > iPhone Storage and tap Douyin.

Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps > Douyin > Storage or Storage and cache.

Clear cache and occupied space

Open Settings (设置).
Tap Clear cache (清理缓存), or open Clear occupied space (清理占用空间).
Clear temporary / snack files first. You can also clear web files (offline pages) and resource files (downloaded effects). Resource files download again when you use those effects.

Clearing cache does not delete posted videos. Drafts are separate.

Delete drafts

Tap + (create).
Open Drafts (草稿).
Delete clips you do not need. Save a copy to Photos first if you still want the video.

Stop saving copies to the album

When you post or export, turn off save to album if Douyin offers it. Delete extra copies in Photos or Gallery, including Recently Deleted / Trash.

Clear Douyin cache on Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps > Douyin.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Tap Clear cache.

Prefer the in-app cleaner first. Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Douyin. That signs you out and can delete local drafts.

iPhone does not offer a separate Douyin cache button in system Settings. Use Settings inside Douyin instead.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Douyin still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

Posted videos stay on Douyin. Save drafts and exported videos to Photos first.
Delete the app from your phone.
Restart your phone.
Install Douyin again from the App Store or Google Play.
Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
