Free up app storage

Free up Find My storage

Find My is not a media hog. It tracks devices, people, and items on your Apple ID. There is no photo library, no offline map pack, and no chat cache to empty. If iPhone Storage lists Find My as large, leftover system data is the usual cause. Offload (when iOS offers it) or a restart is more honest than hunting for videos that are not there.

See how much space Find My is using

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Find My.

Find My is an Apple app. There is no Android Find My. A few hundred megabytes can be normal. Multiple gigabytes is uncommon and is not a folder of photos you can pick through.

What you cannot delete inside Find My

Devices, items, and people lists are account data, not local albums. Removing an AirTag or unpairing a device is an ownership step. It is not a storage cleanup. Location history in Find My is not a Timeline-style media archive.

What actually helps

  1. Restart the iPhone.
  2. In iPhone Storage, tap Find My and use Offload App if iOS shows that button, then Reinstall App.
  3. If Offload is missing, Find My is treated as a system app. Reinstall is then limited. Look at other large apps instead of expecting Find My to free several gigabytes.

Do not turn off Find My iPhone just to save space. That is a device-security setting, not a cache switch.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Find My still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Find My does not keep a media library. Devices and items stay on your Apple ID. Offload or reinstall only if iPhone Storage still lists it as large. Do not turn off Find My iPhone to free space.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Find My again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After you check Find My, look at apps that actually store photos and video. That is what Dedupo is for.
