Free up Firefox storage

Firefox keeps cached web content, cookies, site data, and Downloads on this phone. Cached web content is the safe storage win. Cookies sign you out if you clear them. Bookmarks sync if you use a Firefox account.

iPhone

1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
3. Tap Firefox.

Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
2. Tap Firefox.
3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Delete browsing data (Android)

1. Open Firefox and tap the menu (three dots).
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Delete browsing data.
4. Check Cached images and files / cached web content.
5. Leave logins and saved passwords unchecked unless you mean to remove them.
6. Tap Delete browsing data.

Data Management (iPhone)

1. Open Firefox and tap the menu.
2. Tap Settings > Data Management.
3. Delete Cached Web Content (and Offline Website Data if you see it).
4. Delete cookies only if you are fine signing in to sites again.

Data Management lets you clear cache without wiping the whole profile. That is the usual first step on iPhone.

Delete downloads

1. Open Firefox Downloads (menu > Downloads on many versions).
2. Delete files you do not need.
3. Also delete leftovers in the Files or Downloads app, including Recently Deleted / Trash.

Delete browsing data does not always remove files already saved to Downloads.

Clear Firefox cache on Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Firefox.
2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Firefox on this phone. You will sign in to your Firefox account and websites again.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Firefox still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

1. Bookmarks and tabs sync if you use a Firefox account. Keep Downloads you still need. Reinstalling signs you out of sites on this phone.
2. Delete the app from your phone.
3. Restart your phone.
4. Install Firefox again from the App Store or Google Play.
5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
