Free up app storage

Free up Fortnite storage

Fortnite is large because Battle Royale, extra modes, and cosmetic downloads sit on the phone. You can uninstall modes you do not play. Your locker, V-Bucks, and Battle Pass stay on your Epic account.

See how much space Fortnite is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Fortnite.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap Fortnite.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Manage Installs is the real space tool. Clearing Android cache helps leftovers, not the mode files.

Manage installs and extra modes

  1. Open Fortnite.
  2. Open the menu and find Manage Installs (sometimes under Settings or the extra-modes page).
  3. Uninstall modes you do not play, such as LEGO, Festival, or Racing, if they are listed.
  4. Keep Battle Royale if that is what you still use.

Those modes download again when you install them. Cosmetic items stay on the Epic account.

Replays and leftover downloads

  1. Delete old replays from the replay browser if Fortnite still stores them on this device.
  2. After a big update, use Android Clear cache for leftover patch files.

Do not use Repair-style options hoping they shrink the game. They replace files, they do not delete modes.

Clear Fortnite cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Fortnite.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Fortnite on this phone. That signs you out of Epic on this phone. Cloud progress stays.

iPhone does not offer a separate Fortnite cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Fortnite still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Sign in with your Epic account. Locker items and progress stay in the cloud. Extra modes download again if you install them.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Fortnite again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Fortnite is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
