Free up app storage

Free up Grab storage

Grab caches map tiles, restaurant photos, and chat images from drivers or merchants. Rides, food orders, and Pay stay on your Grab account. Maps and chat files are the local leftover.

See how much space Grab is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Grab.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap Grab.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Grab is a few apps in one (rides, food, mart). Photo cache adds up.

Maps and store photo cache

Android Clear cache drops maps and menu photos. Past trips and food orders stay in Grab Activity.

Chat files

Driver or merchant chat can include photos. Save anything you need for a dispute, then clear cache. Receipts stay on the account.

Clear Grab cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Grab.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Grab on this phone. That signs you out. History stays on the account.

iPhone does not offer a separate Grab cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Grab still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Rides, orders, and GrabPay stay on your Grab account. Sign in again after reinstall.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Grab again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Grab is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
