Free up Hinge storage
Hinge caches Discover photos and chat media on this phone. Matches, likes, and chats stay on your Hinge account. Hinge Help does not document an in-app storage manager. Photo cache is the local leftover.
See how much space Hinge is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Hinge.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
- Tap Hinge.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Lots of hidden chats and a long Discover history can make Hinge look larger than the app binary.
Photo cache
Profiles you already rated still leave photos on the phone. There is no WhatsApp-style Free up Storage list. Android Clear cache removes those copies. Matches stay. Pictures load again when you open a profile.
Chat media
- Open a conversation that has photos or videos.
- Save anything you want to Photos before you reset the app.
- Unmatch or hide a chat only if you also want it gone from Hinge, not just from cache.
Hinge Help says uninstalling the app does not close your account. Chats stay on Hinge unless you delete the account. Clearing cache is not the same as deleting a match.
Log out to resync
- Tap your photo icon on the bottom right.
- Open the gear / Account Settings.
- Tap Log Out, then sign in again.
Hinge Help calls this the first fix when the app is slow. It refreshes the device against Hinge servers. It does not empty the system cache by itself.
Clear Hinge cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Hinge.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Hinge on this phone. That signs you out. Matches stay. Local chat media can need to reload.
iPhone does not offer a separate Hinge cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Hinge still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Matches and chats stay on your Hinge account. Uninstalling does not delete the profile. Save chat photos you care about first.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Hinge again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Hinge is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
