Free up ibisPaint storage
ibisPaint stores canvases in My Gallery on this phone. Cloud Storage is a separate backup if you turned sync on. Local art that never uploaded is a draft. ibisPaint documents deleting the local file and keeping the cloud copy. There is no WhatsApp-style Free up Storage list.
See how much space ibisPaint is using
- Open ibisPaint and tap Settings (upper right on the title screen).
- Check Cloud Storage used space if you sync.
iPhone
- Open iPhone Settings > General > iPhone Storage > ibisPaint.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > ibisPaint > Storage or Storage and cache.
Sync, then delete local art
- Open Settings and confirm Cloud Synchronization is on if you want a backup.
- Wait until My Gallery finishes syncing.
- Delete an artwork you no longer need on this phone.
- When asked whether to delete it from Cloud Storage as well, tap No if you only want to free device space.
ibisPaint says choose No when you are deleting to save storage. You can download the canvas later. Art that never synced is local-only. Export a PNG or .ipv first if you are not sure.
Set delete behavior
- Open Settings on the title screen.
- Open Behavior on Deleting Synchronized item.
- Choose Delete Only Local File if you always want the cloud copy kept.
Confirm is safer if you sometimes mean to erase both copies. Cloud capacity is 64 MB on a free account and 20 GB with Premium.
Exports in Photos or Gallery
Shared PNGs and time-lapse videos sit in Photos or Gallery as a second copy. Delete extras there, including Recently Deleted / Trash.
Clear ibisPaint cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > ibisPaint.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset ibisPaint. Sync first. Unsynced canvases can disappear.
iPhone does not offer a separate ibisPaint cache button. Delete local copies after sync, then offload the app if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and ibisPaint still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Wait until Cloud Synchronization finishes. Art that never uploaded is local-only. Export keepers before you delete the app.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install ibisPaint again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After ibisPaint is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
