Free up IKEA storage
IKEA caches product photos, room inspiration, and store maps. IKEA Family, shopping lists, and orders stay on the account. IKEA’s app privacy pages describe local settings storage. They do not document a Free up Storage button.
See how much space IKEA is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap IKEA.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
- Tap IKEA.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Room photos and article images are the local leftover. Lists stay on the IKEA Family profile.
Product photos and inspiration feed
IKEA keeps catalog images and the home feed so browse stays fast. That cache is safe to drop. Favorites and orders stay on the account.
- Open IKEA and tap Profile or the person icon.
- Open Settings if listed.
- Look for Clear cache or Storage. Most versions have no such row.
If there is no in-app button, use Android Clear cache below.
Data preferences are not a cleaner
IKEA’s app privacy notice: you can change data preferences in the account, and manage camera or location permissions in app settings. That controls personalization and scan, not product-photo cache.
Planner files you saved
Room plans and PDFs you exported with Save or Share live in Files or Photos. Delete those copies there. Clearing IKEA cache does not remove them.
Clear IKEA cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > IKEA.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset IKEA on this phone. That signs you out. Family profile and orders stay on the account.
iPhone does not offer a separate IKEA cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and IKEA still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Shopping lists, Family profile, and orders stay on your IKEA account. You only need to sign in again after reinstall.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install IKEA again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After IKEA is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
