Free up ITVX storage

ITVX Premium stores programmes you save under Downloads so they play without a signal. My ITV lists and history stay on your ITV account. Removing a download only deletes the file on this phone. Each download lasts up to 7 days, or 48 hours after you press play.

See how much space ITVX is using

iPhone

1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
3. Tap ITVX.

Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
2. Tap ITVX.
3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

ITVX does not have a WhatsApp-style storage screen. Open My ITV or Settings, then Downloads, to see programmes on this phone.

Delete programmes from Downloads

1. Open ITVX and go to My ITV, or tap the settings icon in the top right.
2. Open Downloads.
3. Select a programme and delete the download.

Downloads need ITVX Premium, Wi-Fi, and a supported phone (iOS 14 or Android 7.0 and above). Not every show can be saved (some US titles and short-window programmes are excluded). The programme stays in My ITV and can be downloaded again later if it is still on ITVX.

Download over Wi-Fi only

1. Connect to Wi-Fi. ITVX downloads fail on mobile data.
2. Open a show and tap the Download icon beneath the episode.
3. Leave the app on Wi-Fi until the file finishes.

You can queue up to six shows at once. If the phone is full, ITVX shows a storage error and you need to delete older downloads first.

Clear ITVX cache on Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > ITVX.
2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset ITVX on this phone. That signs you out and removes local downloads. My ITV stays on your account.

iPhone does not offer a separate ITVX cache button. Delete items under Downloads, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and ITVX still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

1. Downloads will need to be re-downloaded after you sign in. Your ITV account keeps My ITV lists and watch history.
2. Delete the app from your phone.
3. Restart your phone.
4. Install ITVX again from the App Store or Google Play.
5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
