Free up Meta AI storage

Meta AI chats live in your Meta account. Generated images you save, plus cache, are what use space on this phone. Clearing cache does not delete those chats. Meta AI inside WhatsApp, Instagram, or Messenger is a different app listing. This guide is the Meta AI app.

iPhone

1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
3. Tap Meta AI.

Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
2. Tap Meta AI.
3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Delete generated images saved on this phone

1. Open Photos or Gallery and delete Imagine / Meta AI images you saved.
2. Empty Recently Deleted / Trash.
3. Check Files or Downloads for exported pictures.

Skip Save on new images unless you want a local copy. Images can still sit in the Meta AI chat after you delete the Photos copy.

Clear Meta AI cache on Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Meta AI.
2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out and reset the app. Cloud chats remain.

iPhone does not offer a separate Meta AI cache button. Offload or reinstall if the total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Meta AI still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

1. Chats stay in your Meta account. Save generated images that exist only on this phone. Reinstalling does not delete cloud chats.
2. Delete the app from your phone.
3. Restart your phone.
4. Install Meta AI again from the App Store or Google Play.
5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
