Free up Microsoft Copilot storage

Copilot chats and Designer-style images live in your Microsoft account. Local space is cache, generated pictures you saved, and leftover voice or file previews. Clearing cache does not delete Copilot chats.

See how much space Copilot is using

iPhone

Open the iPhone Settings app.
Tap General > iPhone Storage.
Tap Copilot or Microsoft Copilot.

Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps.
Tap Copilot or Microsoft Copilot.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Copilot inside Edge, Windows, or Microsoft 365 is a different app. This guide is the Copilot phone app.

Delete generated images saved on this phone

Open Photos or Gallery and delete Copilot / Designer images you saved.
Empty Recently Deleted / Trash.
Check Files or Downloads for exported pictures.

Image Create results stay in the Copilot chat on your account after you delete the Photos copy.

Clear Copilot cache on Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps > Copilot.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out and reset Copilot. Chats remain in the Microsoft account.

iPhone does not offer a separate Copilot cache button. Offload or reinstall if iPhone Storage still lists it as large.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Microsoft Copilot still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

Chats stay in your Microsoft account. Save generated images that exist only on this phone. Reinstalling does not delete cloud chats.
Delete the app from your phone.
Restart your phone.
Install Microsoft Copilot again from the App Store or Google Play.
Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
