Free up Moovit storage
Moovit caches transit maps, line data, and favorites so trips open fast. Offline city data, if you downloaded it, is the part you can delete on purpose. Live arrivals still need a network after you clear cache.
See how much space Moovit is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Moovit.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps.
- Tap Moovit.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Remove extra cities and offline data
- Open Moovit Settings.
- Look for city, offline, or downloaded transit data.
- Remove cities you do not ride in.
Favorites (lines and stops) are small. Cached maps for a city you left months ago are the better target when you find a download list.
Clear Moovit cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Moovit.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out and reset Moovit, including local favorites.
iPhone does not offer a separate Moovit cache button. Offload or reinstall if the total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Moovit still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Favorites stay with your Moovit account if you are signed in. Offline city data on this phone will download again. Note any local favorites before you reset.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Moovit again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Moovit is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
