Free up app storage

Free up Nextdoor storage

Nextdoor caches neighborhood photos, marketplace listings, and alert images. Posts you published stay on your Nextdoor account. Nextdoor Help does not document an in-app storage cleaner.

See how much space Nextdoor is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Nextdoor.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap Nextdoor.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Feed photos and For Sale & Free images are the local leftover. Your posts stay on the account.

Feed and marketplace photos

Nextdoor keeps neighbor photos so the Newsfeed and marketplace scroll. That cache is safe to drop. Posts and messages stay on the account.

  1. Open Nextdoor and tap your profile or the menu.
  2. Open Settings if listed.
  3. Look for Clear cache or Storage. Most versions have no such row.

If there is no in-app button, use Android Clear cache below. The next scroll downloads images again.

Drafts and saved listing photos

An unfinished post or marketplace listing can keep photos on this phone. Open compose or Your posts and delete drafts you do not need. Photos you saved to Photos or Gallery are separate. Delete those there, including Recently Deleted / Trash.

Clear Nextdoor cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Nextdoor.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Nextdoor. That signs you out and can delete local drafts. Neighborhood posts stay on the account.

iPhone does not offer a separate Nextdoor cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Nextdoor still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Posts and messages stay on your Nextdoor account. Save any local drafts you still want. You will verify the neighborhood again if Nextdoor asks.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Nextdoor again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Nextdoor is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
