Free up Opera storage

Opera stores cached images and files, site data, Downloads, and video leftovers from the built-in player. Cached files are safe to clear. Downloads stay in Files until you delete them.

See how much space Opera is using

iPhone

1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
3. Tap Opera.

Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
2. Tap Opera.
3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Opera Mini is a different app. This guide is Opera.

Clear browsing data

1. Open Opera and tap the menu.
2. Tap Settings > Privacy > Clear browsing data.
3. Choose a time range.
4. Check cached images and files (and cookies only if you want to sign out of sites).
5. Confirm Clear / Clear data.

Some Opera versions also have a cleaner or storage row on the start page. That still targets cache, not files in Downloads.

Delete downloads and saved videos

1. Open Opera Downloads.
2. Delete files you do not need.
3. If Opera saved videos for the pop-up player, delete those from Downloads or the video list in the app.
4. Clean leftovers in the Files app, including Recently Deleted / Trash.

Site data

1. Open Opera Settings > Privacy > site settings / website settings if shown.
2. Delete data for a heavy site, or clear all site data with browsing data.

Clear Opera cache on Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Opera.
2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Opera and sign out of Opera and websites on this phone.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Opera still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

1. Speed Dial and bookmarks sync if you use an Opera account. Keep Downloads you still need. Reinstalling signs you out of sites on this phone.
2. Delete the app from your phone.
3. Restart your phone.
4. Install Opera again from the App Store or Google Play.
5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
