Free up Paytm storage
Paytm caches bills, ticket art, mall photos, and chat files from merchants. Orders and wallet history stay on your Paytm account. Tickets and chat media are the local leftover.
See how much space Paytm is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Paytm.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
- Tap Paytm.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Paytm is larger than a plain UPI app because of movies, mall, and chat.
Clear cache and old tickets
- Open Paytm and look in Settings for Clear cache.
- Otherwise use Android Clear cache.
- Movie or train tickets you saved as PDFs live in Files. Delete those copies there.
Wallet balance and UPI history stay on the account.
Chat files
Merchant chat can hold images. Save anything you need for a dispute, then clear cache.
Clear Paytm cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Paytm.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Paytm on this phone. Clear data resets UPI and local tickets on this phone.
iPhone does not offer a separate Paytm cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Paytm still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Balance and history stay on Paytm. You may need to set up UPI again after reinstall. Save ticket PDFs you still need.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Paytm again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Paytm is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
