Free up app storage

Free up Peloton storage

The Peloton app stores classes you preload for weaker Wi-Fi. Workout history stays on your Peloton account. Preloaded class video is the large local part. Peloton Support documents this as Preloads, not a WhatsApp-style Free up Storage list.

See how much space Peloton is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Peloton.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap Peloton.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

A 45-minute class can be around a gigabyte. A stack of unused Preloads is the usual reason the app looks huge.

Delete preloaded classes

  1. Open Peloton and go to Workouts.
  2. Open the Preloads page from the preload / cloud icon at the top.
  3. Tap the pencil icon.
  4. Select classes, or Select all.
  5. Tap the trash can and confirm.

Peloton Support says this frees device space. The class stays in the Peloton library. You can preload it again later. You still need a short connection to start a preloaded class so it counts on your profile.

Stop stacking unused Preloads

Preload only the class you will take next. Delete it after you finish. Peloton Support notes you cannot preload classes on Bike, Bike+, or Tread hardware. This guide is for the phone app.

Clear Peloton cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Peloton.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Peloton on this phone. That signs you out. Cloud history stays. Preloads must be downloaded again.

iPhone does not offer a separate Peloton cache button. Delete Preloads first, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Peloton still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Class history stays on your Peloton account. Preloaded classes on this phone will need to be downloaded again.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Peloton again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Peloton is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
