Free up Perplexity storage
Perplexity threads, Spaces, and Collections live in your account. The phone mostly holds cache, preview images, and files you downloaded from an answer. Clearing cache does not delete threads.
See how much space Perplexity is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Perplexity.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps.
- Tap Perplexity.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Delete downloads and saved images
- Open Files or Downloads and remove PDFs, pages, or images you saved from Perplexity.
- Delete leftover pictures in Photos or Gallery, then empty Recently Deleted / Trash.
Source pages Perplexity shows are not a full offline browser archive. If the app is huge, cache is the usual cause, not every thread you ever ran.
Threads and Collections
Deleting a thread or Collection in Perplexity is an account change. It does not reliably shrink iPhone Storage or Android app storage. Use cache clear, offload, or reinstall for the phone.
Clear Perplexity cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Perplexity.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out and reset the app. Threads stay in the account.
iPhone does not offer a separate Perplexity cache button. Offload in iPhone Storage if the total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Perplexity still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Threads and Collections stay in your Perplexity account. Keep any files you downloaded that exist only on this phone. Reinstalling does not delete cloud threads.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Perplexity again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Perplexity is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
