Free up app storage

Free up PhonePe storage

PhonePe caches bill art, UPI history previews, and merchant images. Transactions stay on your PhonePe account and with your bank. The app is mostly cache plus a small history store.

See how much space PhonePe is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap PhonePe.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap PhonePe.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Chat-style support files and banners are the local leftover.

Clear cache, keep the UPI setup in mind

Android Clear cache is fine. Do not clear data unless you mean to set up UPI again on this phone. History still appears after you sign in.

Tickets and PDFs

Movie or bill PDFs you saved sit in Files. Delete those copies there.

Clear PhonePe cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > PhonePe.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset PhonePe on this phone. Clear data resets UPI on this phone. Money in the bank is not in this cache.

iPhone does not offer a separate PhonePe cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and PhonePe still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Transaction history stays on PhonePe. You may need to set up UPI again on this device after reinstall.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install PhonePe again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After PhonePe is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
