Free up Pinterest storage

Pinterest caches Pin images and videos on this phone. Boards and Pins stay on your account. Clearing the app cache does not delete saved Pins.

iPhone

Open the iPhone Settings app.
Tap General > iPhone Storage.
Tap Pinterest.

Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
Tap Pinterest.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Pinterest does not have a WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen. Use system storage for the size, then clear the in-app cache.

Clear app cache

Open Pinterest and tap your profile picture.
Tap your profile photo at the top left (business accounts: tap ... > Settings).
Tap Privacy and data.
Tap Clear app cache.

This is the official in-app cleaner. Pins and boards stay. Images may take a moment to load again.

Pins saved to Photos or Gallery

If you downloaded a Pin to the camera roll, that file is in Photos or Gallery, not in Pinterest cache. Delete those copies there, including Recently Deleted / Trash. Saving a Pin to a board does not put a full-size file on the phone.

Clear Pinterest cache on Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps > Pinterest.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Tap Clear cache.

Prefer Clear app cache inside Pinterest first. Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Pinterest. That signs you out.

iPhone does not offer a separate Pinterest cache button in system Settings. Use Clear app cache inside Pinterest instead.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Pinterest still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

Pins and boards stay on Pinterest. Clearing cache only removes temporary files on this phone.
Delete the app from your phone.
Restart your phone.
Install Pinterest again from the App Store or Google Play.
Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
