Free up Plenty of Fish storage
Plenty of Fish caches browse photos and inbox images on this phone. The profile and recent conversations stay on your POF account. Photo cache and chat media are the local leftover.
See how much space Plenty of Fish is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap POF or Plenty of Fish.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
- Tap POF or Plenty of Fish.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
A busy inbox with lots of profile pictures is the usual reason POF looks large.
Photo cache
Profiles you already opened still leave photos on the phone. POF Help does not document a WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen. Android Clear cache removes those copies. The account stays. Pictures load again when you open a profile.
Chat media
- Open the inbox and open a conversation that has photos.
- Save anything you want to Photos before you reset the app. POF Help also says you can download the conversation page if you need an offline copy.
- On the app, swipe left on a conversation to delete the whole thread. You cannot delete one message inside it.
POF Help removes conversations older than 30 days from the inbox. Deleting a thread is permanent on your side. Clearing cache is not the same as deleting a conversation.
Clear Plenty of Fish cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > POF or Plenty of Fish.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Plenty of Fish on this phone. That signs you out. The profile stays. Local chat media can need to reload.
iPhone does not offer a separate Plenty of Fish cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Plenty of Fish still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Your POF profile stays on the account. Recent chats stay unless they are older than 30 days. Save chat photos you care about first.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Plenty of Fish again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Plenty of Fish is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
