Free up app storage

Free up Procreate storage

Procreate is iPhone-only (Procreate Pocket on iPhone). The official app is not on Android. Artwork lives inside the Gallery on this device. Procreate Help says there is no iCloud sync. Drafts are local-only. There is no WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen.

See how much space Procreate is using

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Procreate or Procreate Pocket.

Large layered canvases are the usual reason the total is high. Offload keeps Gallery data, so offload alone will not drop a full art library.

Export keepers, then delete canvases

  1. In the Gallery, tap Select.
  2. Tap the canvases you want to keep, then tap Share.
  3. Choose the Procreate format (layers and Time-Lapse stay) and save to Files or iCloud Drive.
  4. Swipe left on a canvas you no longer need and delete it. Confirm. Procreate Help says this cannot be undone.

You can also share one canvas by swiping left and tapping Share. A PNG or JPEG export is a flattened copy. The .procreate file is the real backup.

Exports in Photos or Files

Shared images can land in Photos as a second file. After you confirm the Files backup, delete extra Photos copies, including Recently Deleted. Originals you imported from Photos stay there until you delete them in Photos.

Android

There is no official Procreate or Procreate Pocket app on Android. Skip these steps on an Android phone.

iPhone does not offer a separate Procreate cache button. Export .procreate keepers first. Offload keeps documents. Delete App removes the Gallery.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Procreate still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Export keepers as .procreate files to Files first. The Gallery is local-only. iCloud sync is not available. Deleting the app deletes artwork that was never exported.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Procreate again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Procreate is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
