Free up QQ storage
QQ keeps chat files, images, voice clips, File Assistant downloads, and Qzone cache on this phone. Group chats and Qzone video are usually the biggest reason it grows.
See how much space QQ is using
- Open QQ and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap General > Storage (some versions say Storage space).
You can also check the system total: iPhone Settings > General > iPhone Storage > QQ, or Android Settings > Apps > QQ > Storage.
Clean cache
- Open Settings > General > Storage.
- Tap Clean cache (or Clear next to cache).
- Confirm.
Cache is temporary (Qzone previews, images already viewed). Chat text stays. Older media may need to download again.
Clean chat files and downloads
- Open QQ and open File Assistant / File management if you see it (often from the side menu or a Files entry).
- Sort by size and delete large files you do not need on this phone.
- In a heavy group, open the chat settings and clear images, videos, or files for that room.
QQ does not have a WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen. Storage plus File Assistant is the real cleanup path.
Clear Qzone cache
- Open Qzone from QQ.
- Open Qzone settings if the version lists cache or offline content.
- Clear cache, or delete downloaded videos and albums you saved to the phone.
Qzone videos you watched or saved can sit next to chat data and look like "QQ" in iPhone Storage.
Turn off automatic media download
- Open Settings > General or Chats.
- Find media auto-download / auto-play.
- Limit photos and videos to Wi-Fi, or turn auto-download off.
After this, larger files download when you tap them.
Clear QQ cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > QQ.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset QQ. That signs you out and can wipe local chats that were never backed up.
iPhone does not offer a separate QQ cache button. Use Clean cache inside QQ instead.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and QQ still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Back up chats first if QQ offers Chat history backup on this account. Save File Assistant downloads you care about. Cloud messages may return after you sign in, but local files can be gone.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install QQ again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After QQ is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
