Free up Reddit storage

Reddit caches images, videos, and thumbnails as you scroll. Saved posts and subscriptions stay on your account. Clearing cache does not delete them.

See how much space Reddit is using

iPhone

Open the iPhone Settings app.
Tap General > iPhone Storage.
Tap Reddit.

Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
Tap Reddit.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Reddit does not have a WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen. Some versions let you clear local history inside Settings.

Clear local history or cache in the app

Open Reddit and tap your avatar.
Tap Settings.
Look for Clear local history, Clear cache, or similar under browsing or privacy.
Confirm.

If that button is missing, use Android Clear cache or offload the app on iPhone. Saved posts stay on Reddit.

Turn off autoplay so less video is cached

Open Reddit Settings.
Open video or autoplay settings if shown.
Turn autoplay off, or limit it to Wi-Fi.

Less autoplay means less media kept ready in cache.

Saved media on the phone

If you downloaded or shared a video to Photos or Gallery, that copy is outside Reddit. Delete it there, including Recently Deleted / Trash. Reddit Saved is a bookmark in your account, not a local file dump.

Clear Reddit cache on Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps > Reddit.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Reddit. That signs you out.

iPhone does not offer a separate Reddit cache button unless the app Settings include one. Offload Reddit in iPhone Storage if the total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Reddit still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

Saved posts and subscriptions stay on Reddit. Clearing cache does not delete them.
Delete the app from your phone.
Restart your phone.
Install Reddit again from the App Store or Google Play.
Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
