Free up app storage

Free up SHAREit storage

SHAREit stores files people sent you: videos, photos, APKs, and documents. The receive folder is your data, not a disposable cache. Clearing cache may free thumbnails. Deleting SHAREit storage, Clear data, or the receive folder deletes the files.

See how much space SHAREit is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap SHAREit.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap SHAREit.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Look at the size of received files first. That is usually the whole number.

Move received files before you clear anything

  1. Open SHAREit and open History or Files.
  2. Open Received (sometimes Download).
  3. Move photos and videos you want into Photos, Gallery, or Files.
  4. Copy documents to Downloads or a folder you control.

Until you move them, those files exist mainly inside SHAREit. Treat them like a Downloads folder, not like Telegram cache.

Then clear transfer leftovers

  1. After files are copied out, delete received items you do not need from SHAREit History.
  2. Use Android Clear cache for thumbnails and temp pieces of a transfer.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data to "free cache." That wipes received files that were never copied elsewhere.

Clear SHAREit cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > SHAREit.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset SHAREit on this phone. Clear data deletes received files that were not copied out. That is the main storage, not cache.

iPhone does not offer a separate SHAREit cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and SHAREit still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Copy received videos, photos, APKs, and documents out of SHAREit first. Those files are your data. A reinstall deletes anything still only in SHAREit.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install SHAREit again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After SHAREit is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
