Free up SiriusXM storage
SiriusXM keeps downloaded on-demand shows on the phone and a smaller live-channel cache so stations start quickly. Your subscription, library, and channel list stay on the account. Official help documents how to remove downloads. There is no in-app cache button and no WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen.
See how much space SiriusXM is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap SiriusXM.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps.
- Tap SiriusXM.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Official help says downloaded on-demand shows are stored locally. Open Library and the Downloaded filter to see those files.
Remove downloads
- Tap the downloaded icon (a down arrow in a filled circle) on an episode page or in Your Episodes. Official help says that deletes the download and shows a confirmation.
- To clear many files: tap Library in the bottom bar.
- Tap the Downloaded filter.
- Swipe left on each row and tap Remove.
Those labels come from SiriusXM Help. The show stays in your library. Only the offline file leaves this phone. Playback of a download does not use mobile data. Background channel-list updates still can.
Live cache
Official help does not list a live-station cache cleaner. Live listening leaves temporary files so the next channel starts quickly. Android Clear cache drops that pile. Downloads you still want offline stay until you remove them in Library.
Clear SiriusXM cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > SiriusXM.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset SiriusXM on this phone. That signs you out and removes local downloads. The subscription and library stay on the account.
iPhone does not offer a separate SiriusXM cache button. Remove downloads in Library, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and SiriusXM still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Sign in with the SiriusXM account first. The subscription and library stay in the cloud. Downloads need to be downloaded again. Live cache rebuilds as you listen.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install SiriusXM again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After SiriusXM is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
