Free up Sling TV storage

Sling TV does not offer offline episode downloads. DVR recordings live in the cloud and play from My TV when you have a connection. The leftover on this phone is a playback cache for live channels, On Demand art, and recently opened recordings.

iPhone

1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
3. Tap Sling.

Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
2. Tap Sling.
3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Sling does not have a WhatsApp-style storage screen. Cloud DVR hours are an account limit (50 hours included, or Unlimited DVR if you added it).

My TV and cloud DVR (account, not this phone)

1. Open Sling and go to My TV.
2. Review recordings and On Demand titles you opened recently.
3. Delete a recording only if you no longer want it in the cloud DVR.

Removing a cloud recording frees DVR hours on the account. It does not shrink the phone cache. Clearing the phone cache does not delete My TV.

Playback cache

Guide thumbnails, sports tiles, and Freestream art stay on the phone after you browse. There is no official in-app download manager because Sling does not support offline viewing.

Clear Sling TV cache on Android

1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Sling.
2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Sling on this phone. That signs you out. My TV and cloud DVR stay on your Sling account.

iPhone does not offer a separate Sling cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Sling TV still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

1. My TV, cloud DVR, and the channel lineup stay on your Sling account. Sign in again after reinstall.
2. Delete the app from your phone.
3. Restart your phone.
4. Install Sling TV again from the App Store or Google Play.
5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
