Free up Snapseed storage
Snapseed edits photos on this phone. It does not keep a cloud library. Storage is the app, look stacks, working copies, and the JPEGs it writes back to Photos or Gallery. There is no WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen.
See how much space Snapseed is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Snapseed.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
- Tap Snapseed.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
The bigger number is often the saved copies in Photos or Gallery, not Snapseed itself.
Save once, then delete extras in Photos
- In Snapseed, export or save only when you need a finished copy.
- Open Photos or Gallery.
- Delete extra Snapseed exports (often named Snapseed or sitting next to the original).
- Empty Recently Deleted / Trash.
Snapseed can save a new file beside the original. That is how libraries fill with near-duplicates.
Looks and working files
Looks (saved recipes) are small. They are not the storage problem. If Snapseed is still huge after you clean Photos, the leftover is cache and working copies. Android Clear cache handles that. On iPhone, offload the app after you export keepers.
Clear Snapseed cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Snapseed.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Snapseed. Export keepers to Photos first. Snapseed has no cloud restore.
iPhone does not offer a separate Snapseed cache button. Export what you need, then offload or delete the app in iPhone Storage.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Snapseed still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Snapseed does not keep a cloud library. Export or save copies to Photos before you delete the app.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Snapseed again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Snapseed is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
