Free up SoundCloud storage
SoundCloud keeps offline likes, playlists, and a playback cache so tracks start quickly. Likes and playlists stay on your account. Removing offline files only deletes the copies on this phone.
See how much space SoundCloud is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap SoundCloud.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps.
- Tap SoundCloud.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
SoundCloud does not have a WhatsApp-style storage screen. Open Library and look at offline or downloaded likes.
Remove offline likes and playlists
- Open SoundCloud and tap Library.
- Open Likes, Playlists, or the offline / downloaded section if you see it.
- Open a collection and turn off the download / offline icon.
The like or playlist stays in Library. Only the offline audio leaves this phone.
Change offline settings
- Open SoundCloud and tap your profile or the menu.
- Tap Settings.
- Open offline, downloads, or playback settings if listed.
- Turn off automatic offline for likes if that option is on, and prefer Wi-Fi for downloads.
Go+ / subscriber offline listening can sync a large liked library to the phone. Turn that off if you only want a few playlists offline.
Clear SoundCloud cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > SoundCloud.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset SoundCloud on this phone. That signs you out and removes local offline files. Likes and playlists stay on your account.
iPhone does not offer a separate SoundCloud cache button. Remove offline items in Library, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and SoundCloud still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Offline likes and playlists will need to be re-downloaded after you sign in. Your account keeps likes, playlists, and history.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install SoundCloud again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After SoundCloud is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
